Meet the Female Lead WordCamp Organizers Shaping 2027 WordCamps

There is one thing I want to make clear before I begin.

WordCamp has always been a community event where diversity and inclusion matter. Becoming a WordCamp organizer or lead organizer isn’t unusual because of someone’s gender, and that is exactly how it should be.

Still, when I looked at some of the upcoming 2027 WordCamps around our part of the world, something genuinely made me happy.

I saw several amazing women stepping forward to lead WordCamps. As an active community member, I felt I should give this a shout-out.

Some of them are people I have met through the WordPress community. Some I have organized events alongside. Some have become friends beyond borders. And all of them have spent years contributing to their local and global WordPress communities.

So, this isn’t a story about women being allowed to lead. It’s about showcasing my gratitude and happiness for this; the upcoming 5 Asia region 2027 WordCamps will be led by my amazing organizers.

Let’s celebrate and learn about these wonderful female lead WordCamp organizers who are taking on the responsibility of bringing their communities together in 2027.

First, What Is a WordCamp and Why Does It Matter?

If you’re already part of the WordPress community, you can probably skip this section. 😄

For everyone else, WordCamps are community-organized events centered around WordPress. The first WordCamp was held in San Francisco in 2006, and since then, local communities worldwide have organized hundreds of WordCamps and other WordPress events.

But calling a WordCamp simply a “WordPress conference” doesn’t completely explain it.

Depending on the event, you’ll find talks, workshops, networking opportunities, sponsor showcases, community activities, and much more.

Many WordCamps also organize a Contributor Day, where people work together to give something back to the WordPress open-source project.

And no, you don’t necessarily need to be a developer to contribute.

You might translate WordPress, improve documentation, work on design, test features, contribute photos, help with support, participate in community initiatives, or contribute through many other Make WordPress teams.

That’s one of the things I love most about this community. There is almost always a place for you.

Right now, AI has brought major changes and shifts to the WordPress world, and WordCamps are evolving right along with it. So, if any WordCamps are happening near you, you should attend them.

And now, let’s talk about some of the 2027 WordCamps I’m particularly excited about.

Female Lead WordCamp Organizers I’m Excited About in 2027

Like this year, next year will have tons of WordCamps happening around the world. I have focused mainly on WordCamps that will be happening in my nearest regions of Asia. Here are some amazing WordCamps with their leads’ introductions.

1️⃣ WordCamp Nepal 2027, Nepalgunj — Alina Kakshapati

Let’s start with Nepal. ❤️

The WordPress Nepal community holds a very special place in my heart. Anyone who has attended a WordCamp there probably knows the kind of warmth, hospitality, affection, and community spirit I’m talking about.

And 2027 is going to bring something new.

WordCamp Nepal is heading to Nepalgunj for the first time.

Even more exciting for me personally, Alina Kakshapati has been announced as the Global Lead for the next WordCamp Nepal.

Now, my description of Alina can’t be completely objective. 😄

She is one of my closest friends beyond the border and someone I can easily call my big sister. Somehow, she manages to look after me even when we’re thousands of kilometers apart.

But beyond that personal relationship, she has been an active part of the WordPress Nepal community and has participated in WordPress events in different capacities.

WordCamp Nepal 2026 officially passed the torch to Nepalgunj and announced Alina as the Global Lead for the next chapter.

That makes Nepalgunj one of the places I’m especially looking forward to seeing on the WordCamp map in 2027.

Keep an eye on WordCamp Nepal’s official channels as more details arrive.

2️⃣ WordCamp Kolkata 2027 — Ritika Roy

Ah, Kolkata! The City of Joy has always been incredibly close to my heart.

Maybe that’s because I grew up reading writers from Bengal, watching their movies, listening to the stories, and feeling connected with the culture long before I ever visited the city.

Then came WordCamp Kolkata 2022, which made the connection even more personal. It remains one of my favorite WordCamp experiences because it was also the first time I volunteered at a WordCamp.

Since then, Kolkata’s WordPress community has remained special to me. The community has consistently tried to make its events interesting, welcoming, and inclusive, so naturally, I’m curious to see what they’ll bring next.

According to WordCamp Central’s current application status, Ritika Roy is leading the WordCamp Kolkata application for its upcoming edition.

And yes, Ritika is someone I first got to know through WordCamp. She is friendly, deeply connected to her community, and has helped keep the local WordPress ecosystem active.

Seeing someone you’ve known through the community take responsibility for leading an entire WordCamp is always a special feeling. I’ll definitely be watching for the official announcements as the event progresses through planning.

3️⃣ WordCamp Mumbai 2027 — Arundhati Kane

Mumbai has one of India’s long-running WordPress communities, and the city has played an important role in the country’s WordCamp story.

Now, WordCamp Mumbai is officially returning in 2027, with Arundhati Kane associated with the event leadership.

This one also feels personal to me because I’ve had the opportunity to organize alongside Arundhati at WordCamp Asia 2026.

She has been involved with the WordPress Mumbai community and has also contributed her time to WordCamp Asia. Seeing someone’s leadership up close gives you a very different perspective from simply reading a bio.

WordCamp Central currently lists WordCamp Mumbai 2027 for February 13, 2027.

4️⃣ WordCamp Pune 2027 — Elvina Goves

Pune has another established and active WordPress community in India, with community members regularly appearing across meetups, WordCamps, contribution initiatives, and larger regional events.

For 2027, Elvina Goves is leading WordCamp Pune.

Elvina has been working within the WordPress ecosystem for more than a decade. Her journey spans technical writing, content marketing, customer-facing roles, WordPress products, and community contribution.

She has also co-organized multiple WordPress events, including WordCamp Pune, WordCamp Kolhapur, and WordCamp Asia 2026.

So this isn’t someone suddenly appearing in a leadership position. There is a long WordPress journey behind it.

And now she gets to take that experience into WordCamp Pune 2027, scheduled for February 6–7, 2027. Another one for the calendar!

5️⃣ WordCamp Kathmandu 2027 — Sweta Shrestha

There is another exciting WordCamp to talk about: WordCamp Kathmandu 2027. And this one comes with a beautiful full-circle community story. Sweta Shrestha will be leading WordCamp Kathmandu 2027, but her relationship with the event goes back more than a decade.

Like many of us, she came to an event as an attendee. But the community spirit and open-source culture inspired her enough to take the next step.

Over the years, Sweta has remained actively involved with the WordPress community in Nepal, helping organize local WordPress meetups and community events in Kathmandu.

That’s what makes her 2027 role particularly interesting to me.

Keep an eye on the official WordCamp and local WordPress community channels for dates and further announcements.

How to Find WordCamps Near You

Maybe Nepalgunj, Kolkata, Mumbai, or Pune isn’t close to you. That’s okay. There are WordPress events happening all around the world, and finding one is easier than you might think.

✅️ Check WordCamp Central

Your first stop should always be WordCamp Central.

Its official schedule lists upcoming WordCamps and other WordPress community events from around the world.

You can regularly check the schedule and see what’s coming to your country—or perhaps somewhere you’d love an excuse to travel to. 😉

✅️ Follow Local WordPress Communities

Don’t rely only on the official event website. Follow organizers, contributors, Meetup groups, community members, and social profiles from the cities or countries whose events interest you.

Quite often, you’ll hear about an upcoming WordCamp from community conversations before you’ve remembered to check the official calendar.

✅️ Keep the Events on Your Calendar

If you’re someone like me who keeps finding interesting community events and then realizes there are too many dates to remember, use your calendar.

Add the WordCamps you’re interested in to Google Calendar as soon as their dates are announced. It makes planning travel, visas, accommodation, and work schedules much easier, especially when you’re thinking about attending events outside your country.

Let’s Keep Meeting, Contributing, and Building Communities

We are living through an interesting time for WordPress.

AI is changing how we build websites, write code, create content, market products, provide support, and even interact with technology. The tools will continue changing. But I believe the importance of community becomes even greater when technology moves this quickly.

One person can have a brilliant idea.

Put hundreds of developers, designers, marketers, writers, business owners, students, contributors, and curious beginners together and suddenly you have thousands of ideas, conversations, collaborations, and possibilities.

That’s what community events can create. That’s why I keep encouraging people to attend WordCamps. Read my latest WordCamp experience here.

So whether it’s WordCamp Nepal, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, or another WordPress event happening on the other side of the world, find one that excites you.

Perhaps we’ll meet at one of these 2027 WordCamps. Until then, stay well, keep contributing, and keep thriving. Ta-ta! 👋
